The power of GARLIC!
Roasted Garlic is so underrated! It’s one of our favorites because the aroma is like no other after you roast it. It’s extremely easy to spread when roasted, it mixes into sauces easily and no peeling or chopping is required!
Make this by wrapping the garlic bulbs with salt, olive oil, fresh thyme, & fresh dill tightly in foil. Roast for at least a half hour to 45 mins at 350!! Let it cool for 15 minutes and you can squeeze each garlic out like butter individually or all of them at once! Perfect to roast multiple bulbs if you’re already baking for the holidays!
But of course the best thing about garlic is that it’s great for your health.
Chopping & crushing the bulbs allow the cells and enzymes in the cloves (alliinase & alliin) to break down and combine, turning into a sulfur compound called allicin. That is where it’s complex flavor, aroma & therapeutic benefits arises.
Closely related to onions, shallots, leeks & chives, a majority of garlic is grown in China. It’s been used not only in cooking but in ancient medicine as well in countless counties around the world.
Many studies show that adding garlic to your diet relaxes blood vessels, lower blood pressure, increases blood flow & reduces risk of diseases. Will help protect against brain damage, bone loss & boost immunity. The list goes on.
This superfood is packed with magnesium, vitamin C & b6, fiber, calcium, iron, potassium, zinc, niacin and more. Consistently adding garlic in moderation to your diet will help maintain health. Side note, roasting garlic not only taste amazing but the aromas will make you drool.
